(By Telegraph—Press Association.) He was badly burnt and rendered unconscious and was taken to Masterton Hospital where he recovered consciousness. His condition this morning is satisfactory. A lad of six years, John Peck, received a compound fracture of the left leg when ho was struck by a motor car in the main street of Dannevirke on Saturday evening. A cyclist, Colin Delaney, who was knocked from his machine by an overtaking lorry received facial abrasions. In neither instance did the drivers of the motor vehicles stop. I The body of Mrs Lakey, the wife of ! Samuel Lakey, farmer of Rotowaro, near Huntly, was found in a pond this morning. It had been covered with briar, which partly hid it. Neighbours noticed that the cows had not been milked, and found both Lakey and his wife missing. Their beds had not been slept in, and a shotgun kept in the house was not there. A party of Auckland detectives has gone to join in the search.
