HITTING THE HIGH SPOTS

A SECRET COMES OUT. SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR 25TH. The secret is out! Its the Double Four Comedy Costume Company, with the assistance of several leading Hawke’s Bay artists, who will be hitting the high lights at the Hastings M.in'cipal Theatre on Friday, August 25, with a vaudeville entertainment right out of the box in aid of the Mayor’s Central Relief Fund. This is the biggest effort made for years in the way of local entertainment, and it introduces many old favourites in new settings. For instance, there’s the ever popular Napier quartette, who will be all “dolled” up in a special setting, and the one and only “Stevie” singing .for the first time in his long career, “The Bandolero” (with illustrations). If you haven’t seen Harril Barden and his lightning sketches you haven’t seen anything, and it will be no use crying if you miss the Stevenson brothers or sisters, or whatever they are, singing that evergreen song, “No matter how hungry a baby is, it never cries for its father.” Comedy sketches by members of the company and also by sonic of the Hastings Orphans’ Club, and Harry Cooper that wizard of the fiddle, are included on the programme. We’re not telling you all about it m one lump; that’s only part of the greatest show on earth or anywhere else, so watch for further details. Remember, we’re put on the earth to help others; what the others are here for we don’t know, but hero’s a bright anil breezy show at a terrific pace. The long distance chess tournament will take place at the interval with the Apsey Shield at stake, and there will also he folk dancing and other exciting adventures. By the way. did we mention that the fare is 2/- in the circle and stalls, and J/- in the gallery? The gallery’s the limit, but you can take off the roof —the place doesn't belong to us. Our last advice: Book at Fail's; it costs no more,
