Mrs. Noell, who is an inmate of the Waipawa Hospital, is making steady progress towards recovery.

Mrs. J. B. Trew, of Hastings, left this morning on a holiday visit to her brother, Mr. W. Parker, of Takapau.

Mrs. Kendall, also Miss M. McLean, of Waipawa, have returned home from an extended holiday in Wellington.

Mrs. Guy, of Palmerston North, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. D. P. McLean, Waipawa.

The friends of Mrs. A. Egglestone will regret to hear that she has had to enter the Waipawa Hospital for treatment.

Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Foster, accompanied by Miss Gleeson and Mr. Morrie Greville, left Napier to-day by ear for Wellington.

The engagement is announced of Halsey Amy, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Geo. M. White, 20, Orakau Avenife, Epsom, to Percival Arthur, younger son of Mr and Mrs 8. J. A. Hickling, 50 Empire road, Epsom, lato of Hastings, Hawke's Bay.

A Pahiatua telegram reports the death of Mr Samuel Bolton, of Oete, Pahiatua, late chairman of the Pahiatua County Council and actively identified for very many years with numerous local bodies and institutions. He was aged 77 years.

Members of the congregation of the Rangiora Presbyterian Church unanimously' decided to extend a call to the Rev. John A. F. Watson, M.A., of Normanby, Taranaki, to fill the vacancy caused by the Rev. W. R. Hutcheson, who has gone to Waipukurau.
