HAWKE’S BAY JOCKEY CLUB

THE ANNUAL REPORT LOSS OF £402 FOR PAST YEAR Following is the annual report of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club, to be presented at the annua] general meeting ot members at the tea kiosk on the club s racecourse, Hastings, on Wednesday next, August 23, at 10.30 a.in.: — “Youi committee regrets that the club’s operations resulted in a loss of £402 1/4 for the past year, during which racing was held on seven days. The club collected for and paid to the L’reasur. over £4OOO in taxation during the year. We were unfortunate m having exceptionally disagreeable weather for our winter meeting; otherwise the position would undoubtedly have been better. The club is still without the use of the steward’s stand and its appointments and also a large portion of the main stand through the damage caused by the earthquake in 1931. The loss of these facilities causes material inconvenience in the conduct of meetings. The committee has used every endeavoui to have repairs effected, but so far without success, This matter will need the urgent consideration of the incoming committee. “The club has arranged a renewal of its debentures until September 15, 1937. Interest payable thereon has been reduced to 5 per cent for the year expiring on September 15. 1933, and thereafter until September 15. 1937, to 4) per cent. We desire to express our thanks to the debenture-holders for the consideration thus shown “We greatly appreciate the consideration extended to us by the New Zealand Racing Conference in remitting portion of our levy. “We desire to thank Mr A. M. Brodie, our hon. veterinary surgeon, and Mr H. Jones, hon. timekeeper, for their valuable services during the past year.
