PARKVALE GOLF DANCE

SUCCESSFUL EVENING. “MIXED TOURNAMENT’’ FOR MAYOR’S FUND. On Thursday a most successful dance was organised by a social committee composed of members of the Parkvale Golf Club, the proceeds to be given to the Mayor’s Fund. The hall had been most artistically decorated, the committee responsible being Misses E. Stubbs, H. Goertz, and D. Carr, Messrs. E. Hixon, W. Wilson, W. Keith and C. Crichton. Beautiful pungas which had come from Puketitiri (given by Mr. C. Watkins) stood with gracefully d.ooping fronds on either side of the stage and at the end of the hall. The stage had palms and shrubs effectively placed, these being lent by Wilson’s Nurseries, and Mr. Wilson also gave quantities of beautiful Iceland poppies, which adorned the supper tables. Along the walls were draped flags (lent by the Borough Council) which added a gay note to the general effect, and above the stage and stretched in lines to the middle of the ceiling were interlooped streamers of blue and gold, the club colours. The whole scheme of decoration was enhanced by coloured electiic lights carried out by Mr. Torr. Mrs. Keith arranged the very appetising supper. Messrs. C. Crichton and H. Poppelwell were M.C.’s. Popular dance music was supplied by Messrs. Walden, Cameron and Redward. Mr. C. Crichton, as dance secretary, spared no trouble in carrying out necessary organisation, with Mr. E.
