If private operators, or a combination of them, arc prepared to take over the Auckland Transport Board’s bus services, the board, as the licensing authority, will issue licenses for them. This decision was made to-day after a discussion on a report showing that the present year’s working the board’s buses show a loss of £18,128. The excess of working expenses over revenue was £9512. The chairman, Mr. Alhim, said that, no application to take over one bus service would bo granted. Private operators must take all or none and must undertake to maintain substantially the same services at the same fares.—Press Assn.
