MAORI BOOKMAKER
£250 FINE INFLICTED ROTORUA, April 13. On a charge of carrying on the business of a bookmaker on February 2, the first day of the Rotorua races, Hori Mau, agent, of Rotorua, was on Thursday fined £230 by Mr S, L. Patorson, B.M. The Magistrate said that Mau had a number of previous convictions, which had apparently not acted as a deterrent as he had persisted in the illegal business in defiance of the law.
