Mr Pat Walsh left Hastings yesterday for Dunedin on a holiday trip. Mr. W. W. Bird, M.A., has been appointed a rpember of the MusicTeachers’ Registration Board for a period of two years from April 3. Dr. Hans Luther, the German Ambassador to the United States, arrived at New York by the Bremen on Friday. —Press Assn, cable. Mrs McCormick and Miss Lillian McCormick, of Dunedin, are the guests of Mr and Mrs Geo. Eatwell, Gordon road, Hastings. Mr. J. H. Reid, Mr. A. G. Nolan and Mr. R. H. Wickstead, have been reappointed as members of tho Gisborne Land Board. Mr. F. H. Gifford, acting local manager of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Shipping Company, has been appointed local manager there.— Press Assn. The engagement is announced of Rachel Gwendoline, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hector Smith, “Ormlie,” Napier, to Moore Richardson, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Renton, Heaton street, Christchurch. Members of the Taradale Town Board on Thursday evening passed a resolution of condolence to the relatives of the late Mr P. P. Neagle, a well known local settler, who took a keen interest in local body affairs. Captain Thompson, officer in charge of the Ashburton Salvation Army, and Bandmaster Argylle, of the Ashburton Salvation Army Band, are the guests of the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs G. F. Roach) during their stay in Hastings over the Easter festival. Messrs Bra Sch (secretary) DynesFulton (acting-chairman), and Grounds, of the Dairy Board, left by the Wanganella yesterday to confer with the Australian Dairy Board on problems affecting the export trade.—Press Association. Mr. Thomas C. List, of the “Taranaki Daily News,’’ New Plymouth, district governor of Rotary in New Zealand, will leave Wellington by the Maunganui on May 16 to attend the Rotary Governors’ Congress and Inter national Conference to be held at Boston, United States. Mr A. Chapman, town clerk for Thames since 1909, tendered his resignation on Thursday to the Commissioner. Mr Chapman has been in ill health for some time. Ho was born and educated in Napier and joined the branch of the Colonial Bank and later the Bank of New Zealand, from where ho was transferred to Patca and thence to Auckland, Coromandel and Thames, where he succeeded tho late Mr A. Bruce as Town Clerk.—Press Association.
