HEAVY PRODUCE YIELD
STORAGE SPACE IN AUCKLAND FILLED. BEEF KILLINGS RESTRICTED. Owing to the heavy output of meat and dairy produce from the Auckland Province this season, it has been necessary to place some restriction on the killings of beef to conserve the storage space available (states the "N.Z. Herald.”) The measure is a temporary one and the position is being watched closely. The restriction depends on the total quantity of shipping space available within the next few weeks. Preference has to be given to dairy produce as it is the most perishable commodity. No restriction has been placed on the Killings of lamb, mutton and pigs. Lamb and pigs have to be brought by the farmer to a certain condition and they are in danger of "going off” if they are held: Must of the beef offering is boner quality, which can be carried for some time as there is plenty of food offering. Under the circumstances, schedule rates offered by exporters for beef arc to a large extcijt nominal.
