AUCKLAND AUTUMN MEETING

BIG FIELDS ENGAGED. Of all tho Easter meetings in the Dominion the Auckland gathering is considered the most important of all. Both quality and —lantity are engaged, so there is no wider the A.B.C. enjoys such populai..,.. Tho bill of faro set before the public consists of two throe-year-old classics, as well as the Champagne Stakes for two-year-olds, while hurdlers and steeplechasers are also catered for, as well as sprinters and distance handicap horses. GREAT NORTHERN OAKS, 1J miles.—Silver Scorn, the best filly seen out since Desert Gold, will cause a sensation if she goes down. Gold Trail, if started, will probably be the next best backed. Gold Musk has no credentials, but Prolyxo no doubt will be after some easy place money. Silver Scorn looks like monopolising a lean betting pool. I PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP, 1J mile. —Merry Damon, with all his 9st and as many years, enters calculations. Seatown, if not suffering from any ill effects of the Stratford fall, should go a good race. Flying Prince is not consistent. Valroe is a very fair performer. Aga Khan appeals more here than in thu Easter. Royal Doulton appears to be past his best. Whakapara and Alloy both are consistent and won at Whangaroi last week. Jaeldy Karo, a delicate sort, has form. Carfex and Psychologist, of the light'-weights, on form read the best. A favohrite may be found among Whakapara, Psychologist and Carfex. BRIGHTON HURDLES, 2 miles.— Prince of Orange, at the last A.B.C. Summer Meeting proved himself of tiptop class, and is held as the best hurdle horse seen out this season. Cruachan is a greatly improved horse, and good as the top-weight is Mr 11. M. Campbell’s cast-off will fully test out the northerner. High Pitch on recent form is past his best in this department. Paddon last season won the Winter Hurdles at Wellington in hollow fashion and created a very favourable im-

pression; his chances will- be enhanced on Saturday should the going be heavy. Royal Visitor is fair, but he is better as a ’chaser. Billy Boy, too, is a different proposition over the country. Emancipation has won two or three races at the small meetings. Lucess is a decided possibility, whilst Simeon, if forward, would be dangerous at the weights. Imperial Prince has tho best credentials of the light-weights. Most support may be behind Prince of Orange, Cruachan and Imperial prince. EASTER HANDICAP, 1 mile.—This event was fully dealt with in last evening’s issue. Most money may be forthcoming for Gold Trail, L'Allegro, Golden Wings and Sunny Sky. CHAMPAGNE STAKES, 7 furlongs. —Hereatu is fair, but so far as not proved up to classic form. Midian was a big disappointment at Awapuni, but is said to have regained form again. As he pulled up lame at Awapuni, an excuse may be proffered for that failure. Impasto must be taken on trust, as his form has been revealed only in minor events. D’Artagnan is held in high esteem in the Auckland province, but has not yet been pitted against the best youngesters. Deputy Ruler is galloping exceptionally well, and has also in public shown himself to bo a very promising colt. Gay Sheila is a fair filly in her class. Princess Doreen appears to bo back to her best, and will bo ridden by B. Reed. The favourite looks like coining from Princess Doreen, Deputy Ruler, and Midian. MANGEBE STEEPLECHASE, about 2i miles.—Royal Reign won recently, so is in racing shape. Callamart may require a run or two. Claremore and Simeon are a pair of likely ones, but have not come up to anticipations. Neil has no form as a ’chaser. Nassock is another that has no recent racing. Absent is a good jumper and galloper. Creina’s King won recently to greatly surprise. Trowbridge is said to be a good mare, but fell when supported by the stable recently. Little is known of the remainder. Form points to the best supported being Royal Reign, Creina’s King, and Trowbridge. ONSLOW STAKES, 6 furlongs, for two-year-olds.—Coronis is a brilliant galloper, but six furlongs may find him out. King Nestor won at Thames. Gold Pocket is another recent winner. Star Artist has disappointed, whereas Rapper won the Maiden last week at Stratford. Queen Nona has no public form. Catalogue, stable companion to Princess Doreen, has been pleasing the track watchers at Awapuni. Trickling Water was recently in the money. Cherry King won the other day, and his winning margin was impressive. My Money may' prove the best of the remaining trio. Cherry King, BaPper, and Coronis may carry the bulk of the money. EDEN HANDICAP (hack), 1 mile — A big field with quite a few showing recent winning form. Blanford, Muff, and Master Brlerly may be considered the best to support.
