EASTER RACING

HAWKE’S BAY JOCKEY CLUB AUTUMN MEETING ON SATURDAY REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. Everything is set for the above meeting which will be held on Saturday next on the Hastings racecourse. With the track in such excellent condition and the acceptances quite up to the average the racing should prove well worth seeing. This will be the first time that the win and place totalisator has been in operation at Hastings and, judging by its popularity elsewhere, the Hawke’s Bay racing public, too, will find the new mode of speculation to their taste. Transport facilities, as advertised elsewhere, should admirably suit all visitors. The Hastings Citizens’ Band will again be’in attendance to render the musical programme. The first race is timed to start at 12.35. RIVERSLEA HURDLES. Of 70 sovs.; about 1J mile.

Kinsel six weeks ago gave a very tine impression when winning at Napier and. as he has only another ten pounds on his back, will again find ready support. Whenuanui is a brilliant galloper and fencer and, as recent iacing has done him no end of benefit, he will go a great race. Kinibo at 9.13. a horse that has won three races and filled several minor places this last four months, should appeal, as he has form that recommends. Red Bank has of late been responsible for some slashing displays over the schooling fences here and must make matters interesting. Coonoor is an unknown quantity at present, but in the hunting field he has proved a clever and fast jumper. Kaokaoroa has not had a race for some time, so will hardly be forward enough to run out a solid mile and a half, for solid it will be with Red Bank, Kimbo and Co. to make the pace. Racing condition should play an important part in the summing up of this event and favouritism may be with Kinsel, Whenuanui, Kinibo. DATTITAW. ■ArATTXT'W

This is a very smart field of maideners and by this time next season quite a few will be found winning in open company. Grand Sport is a good galloper and in his last start was second to Takakua at Napier. Queen’s Diadem is backward. Admatha’s best to date was socond to Slippery at, the Carnival meeting, but her form since has not been exactly encouraging. Hunting Mars, from Gisborne, was preceded by a reputation—he is a fine looking colt, but looks as if a race will do him the world of good. Tareha is a possibility. Margaret Rose on track form hardly appeals. Tangahoe, the property of Mr Ratana, possesses no public form. Hukemanu has galloped well enough of late to be well worth a bttle consideration. Royal Shift has been responsible for one or two fine recent gallops and has only to run up to same to bp very prominent. Boundary Maid is in the making. Bradman was second at Napier and he, too, will strongly enter calculations. Granny Quex is decidedly on the improve and was third in her last start to Cuddle and Royal Dash. Squeeze, so far, has not raced up to her track form, but she has not had the best of luck in her races —her track form is on a par with anything engaged in this event. Dusky Crown, a very lazy track worker, gives no guide as to his possibiiitics. Most interest may be taken in the running of Royal Shift, Grand Sport, Granny Quex.

Slippery is well treated on form and, as he is galloping very well and is also a very lit gelding, must take some beating. Princess Bell, too, is in the best ot racing condition and is galloping ditto. Limbohm won at Napier and was a little unlucky at Manawatu, so that he has form to recommend his chances. On Tuesday morping Hybiscus went very impressively over five furlongs and, in receipt of a pound from the two-year-old Limbohm, he will have many on his side. Passion Fruit the other morning went poorly. Mercian Queen is a fair galloper and has ability enough to recommend. McHeath surprised when ho finished second at Napier, but that day he received a good jump-out, whereas three of the others were badly away, so that his form that day may have been flattering. Cullus bled at Pahiatua. The writer has not heard the seat of that trouble, but. should he be again all right, Mr Twist’s colt will, on Napier form, be one to be wary of. Mercian Lass in her one race to date showed little form. Horses engaged in this race that are showing encouraging track work at the present time are Hybiscus, Llmbotim, Slippery.

Speed has done all that has been asked and, just out of hack class, he contested open class at Pahiatua and won a double. This is his first attempt over a distance and, at 8.3 for a three-year-old, will be fully tested. My Own has raced poorly this season, but of late, after being treated for bot trouble, has shown a decided improvement. The last few weeks she has been showing much better form in her track work. If she is back to form, with Bst.. she will be in her element in this company. Chocksay on recent form does not appeal. Valsier looks a better horse than he did at Napier, so that the Gisborne candidate can bo relied upon to run a great race. White Fang will claim a 51b. allowance, bringing his weight down to 7.2, and with ' such a light impost the aged gelding should break his run of outs. Royal Parade may run better later with this race into him. Favouritism may rest among White Fang, My Own, Valsier.

Monarchy has come to hand in remarkably quick time and in his last two gallops has shown very good form. Sabatini has got over his soreness and, on Napier form over this distance with everything even this time, should be there or thereabouts. Gainsfid was third to Speed and Courtyard in tho Hack Cup at Napier. Gold Ruler is an outside possibility. High Grader has yet to win a race, but certainly on his track form should have won before now. Wedding Bells beat False Scent at Wairoa, for which we have no explanation. Hard Gold, with the big fences up, would have the laugh on this field, whereas now they have the laugh. Suustead is another of the local contingent that gallops well enough in private to win but cannot produce that form on the day with the colours upOn public form he cannot be recommended, but on track galloping ho can. This race should be a very interesting one with a bunched field at the finish Most support may be forthcoming for Monarchy, Gainsfid, High Grader!

Royal Hunting, with his 9.6, has a horse’s job m front of him. Good galloper that he is, the writer opines that he requires a race or two before he is back to the form that W. D. Young had him at. Grumpy won twice at Pahiatua, but the second, day was lucky—a good galloper she is in winning form and condition. Slippery, if started again, will be one to find favour with the speculative public. Stitch, if back to form—and ho is reported to be—will, at the weight, prove a thorn in the side of the best engaged. Princess Bell, too, must be seriously considered, Jazz King ran forward enough at Napier, after a long absence from the racing track, to entice support now. Master Frank did not race up to Gisborne form at Napier, being well and truly trounced both days. Royal Time is not recommended, but a different tale will be told when the hurdles are erected. Tangahoe has no form. Three that should not have to beg for monetary support are Stitch, Princess Bell, Slippery,

Aston is in winning vein and the old fellow will not lack for backers, as his form of late reads well. Tahoma might, but his form of late both on the track and in public has been disappointing. Kaihoro races well fresh and she might with 7.8 lead all the way. False Scene, on.the handicap, strongly appeals and should it rain between now and Saturday the Hunting Song gelding will be considered one of the bets of the day. 'The following may carry most money: Kaihoro, False Scent, Aston.
