DOUBLE TRAGEDY

DEATHS OF MAN AND WOMAN CIRCUMSTANCES INDICATE MURDER PALMERSTON N., April 12. There were circumstances pointing to murder when Helen Motley, aged 26 years, of Palmerston North, was found with her throat cut at the rear of her parents’ premises in Rangitikei street at a quarter to eight last evening, with Arthur Soley, aged about 39 years, who also had his throat cut. It appears that Soley, who had been keeping company with the young lady for the past 16 months, visited the shop premises for the first time after a disagreement between the two last Sunday, and at the rear the incident took place. The girl's father, Mr W. G. Motley, attracted by a knocking, found the pair injured, although they were thou not dead. His daughter died shortly after this and the man died on the way to hospital In an ambulance.
