(Waipukurau Old Boys), Dwyer (Otane), Hobin, Hooper, Rust (Waipawa), Smith, S. Smales and James (Waipukurau D.H.S.). Emergencies: N. Wilder (Eparaima), Chapman (Waipukurau D.H.S.) and Knobloch (Waipawa). Players are requested to notify the secretary, Mr C. J. Williams, if not available. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the Waipukurau branch of the Pluuket Society was held on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs J. Hobson presiding over Mesdames W. Chambers, J. Ashton Chambers, J. W. Harding, Paul Hunter, Percy Hunter, F. Hopkinson, B. J. McCormick, J. C. Nicholls, C. Pattison, J. Winlove, J. H. Walker, E. Broad, Miss Winlove, and the secretary, Mrs B. Mathieson. The nurse’s report for the month of March was read as follows:—Visits to rooms: Waipukurau, adults 133, babies 118, children 29, total 280; Takapau, adults 43, babies 41, children 11, total 95. Visits to homes: Waipukurau 79, Takapau 6. New cases: Waipukurau 5, Takapau nil. Cases under care: Wipukurau 184, Takapau 69. Dr. Martin Tweed paid a visit to the rooms during the month, his visit being much appreciated. The usual routine of business was dealt with. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Miss Gideon for the raffle of a doll in aid of Plunket funds, the sum realised being £6 10/-; also to Mr Crook for the donation of a ticket for a concert at Hatunia and to Miss J. McKenzie. Yearly subscriptions were received from Mr and Mrs J. W. Harding and Mrs J. Hobson. After the meeting the members adjourned to the Ruahine Tearooms to farewell Mrs E. H. Leigh, who is leaving the district. After a delicious afternoon tea had been partaken of, Mrs J. Hobson, president, in a short speech, referred to Mrs Leigh’s valued services to the society. Not only had Mrs Leigh been a regular attendant at all the meetings, but she had also done yeoman service generally, and there was much regret at her departure. The speaker then presented the guest with a piece of Ainsley china, extending to her the society’s best wishes for happiness in the future. Three cheers were given for Mrs Leigh and all sang “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.’’ The drawing of the raffle for the doll in aid of the Plunket Society took place at the pictures on Tuesday evening, Mrs D. McLeod, of Argyll, being the winner.
