TEMPORARY BUILDINGS
CLASSIFICATION DECIDED UPOM. POSITION REGARDING HASTINGS STRUCTURES. The Building Inspector (Mr T. MeDowell) reported to the Hastings Borough Council last evening that he had spent considerable time on the question of temporary buildings erected in the borough, and these he had classified a* follows:— Class A.—All buildings erected in the No. 1 and No. 1A building districts, having been constructed of timber and galvanised iron. Class B.—All buildings' that were partly demolished and still have some permanent work standing but which have been repaired with timber and galvanised iron, and arc in the No. 1 and No. 1A building districts. Class C. —All buildings that were erected in the No. 2 building district, being constructed of timber and galvanised iron, which, if they comply with the by-laws of the district as to spacing of timbers, etc., can be classed as “permanent building.” He explained that all notices for temporary buildings of classes A and C where the two years’ permits have expired, ean now be sent out, but the notices of the class B buildings will have to be held back until tho buildings have been thoroughly inspected and a report of same placed before tho council. It was decided that the report be adopted, and that teh inspector be instructed to report on the list of premises for which temporary permits were issued, special attention to be given regarding those that he considers dangerous and requiring first attention.
