, WONDERFUL PROGRESS I RECORDED, f j PAST YEAR’S WORK REVIEWED, f i- Tn the course of her annual report to ■ the Hastings Borough Council last I evening, the librarian reported that tlie ' total number of subscribers in the adult 3 section was 640. an increase ot 77 upon ’ that of last year. The receipts amount- ‘ cd to £291 6s sd, an increase of £5O 16s 4d. The library continued to make j wonderful progress. During the year 833 books were purchased. There were now 3243 books . in the lending department and 192 in -like reference department. At tho an II anal count of * books. 16 were missing. 1 1 compared with nine last year. Eight - parcels, comprising 117 books, wore dis- ■ ! carded. Thanks were due to the solveI tion committee for their choice in sc- - luting the most suitable books. Eleven magazines and file newspapers ! were stolen from the reading room dvrl ing the year, and it was suggested that I the only solution would be to supply i inched covers.
