MAROONED FOR TWO NIGHTS
UNENVIABLE EXPERIENCE. PARTY RESCUED WHEN FLOODS SUBSIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 11. After being marooned for two nights on Rakaia Island, a sporting party of seven, including three women, were rescued yesterday when the floods subsided, they being brought over on a spring dray. Two men attempting a rescue on Sunday had a narrow escape, their dray being swept down the river, and they also had to seek refuge on the island overnight. All stayed at, an old house.. 1
