W.C.T.U. CONVENTION

BUSINESS SESSION OPENS SECRETARIES’ REPORTS Invercargill, March 16. The business sessions of the 49th Dominion convention of the 1 Women’s Christian Temperance Union began today. The Dominion treasurer (Miss LovellSmith) submitted her report, dealing with tho organising fund, headquarters income and expenditure, literature fund, New Zealand fund, Maori fund and work among seamen. In spite of the general financial depression tho report was of an encouraging nature and showed a satisfactory balance of cash-in-hand and an excess of over liabilities. The report of tho corresponding secretary (Miss Henderson) stated that there were nearly 10,000 on the cradle roll, an increase of 1000 on last year.
