Damage to the front portion of a car driven by a visitor to Napier from Wellington was caused at about 8 o’clock last evening, when the vehicle collided with a stationary car parked at the side of the Awatoto road in the vicinity of the Monte Carlo Gun Club’s grounds. The former ear was travelling towards Hastings when the driver’s eyes were dazzled by the lights of an approaching ear. Before he could avoid it he collided with the rear of the stationary car. Although the cars were damaged to some extent the driver of the moving vehicle escaped injury. The New York Telephone Company has deleted Ihe title “Miss” from the names of 12,000 unmarried women in the winter edition of its directory. The omission has meant a saving of 10 pages in each of the hundreds of thousands of copies of the directory issued.
