PIGEON RACING
HASTINGS HOMING CLUB. The Hastings Club flew the first race of the soeond round of tho young bird races from Ormondville last Saturday in fine weather. The birds were liberated at 12.30 p.m., and the first bird arrived at 1.32 p.m., tho distance being 45 miles. Mr. C. Martin was the winner in tho first three. 1. B.C.C. No. 989; velocity 1267.58. 2. B.C.C. N0..Q25; velocity 1253.16. 3. B.C.C. No. 988; velocity 1243.79. All these birds are Gits —Hnnscnne. They aro forward for their age, and should develop into a strong typo of racing pigeon. They have good broad feathers in their primaries and secondcries, and should, with careful training, do exceptionally well later at the longer distances. Several club members have imported Gits hlood this last season to try and improve their lofts, and by the way some of the young birds are flying, they certainly aro an improvement on last year’s birds up to the present time. At the longer races we shall be more certain ll' they really tire the goods.
