The cold from which the King is suffering is taking the normal course, but as a precautionary measure he remained indoors yesterday. The Prince of Wales represented His Majesty at the first levee. He rode from Buckingham Palace in state escorted by the Household Guard.—British Official Wireless.

The Misses Bona Tong and Mavis Lean, and F. Sharpley, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. 0. Tong, left by car this morning for Wellington, en route to Christchurch, for the New Zealand amateur athletic championships.

Dame Sybil Thorndike, with her husband, Mr. Lewis Casson, and son, Mr. Christopher Casson, will leave for Southampton by the Akaroa this evening. The members of the company are to leave for England by the Rangitiki on March 17.

Mr. W. Morrison, chairman of the Waitotara County and member of the Wanganui Harbour Board and New Zealand Highways Board, has been taken seriously ill. At a meeting of the Harbour Board a motion was carried expressing the hope that Mr. Morrison would soon be restored to his usual good health.

The Rev. Stephen Parr, principal of College House, Christchurch, has been appointed an honorary canon of the Christchurch Cathedral to fill the place vacated by Canon J. R. Wilford. Recently Canon Parr added to his schol astic distinctions by completing his degree of Bachelor of Divinity of Melbourne University.

Mr. W. A. lorns, chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, will leave to-night by the Akaroa for London, where he will negotiate a new freight contract with the shipping companies, and also investigate marketing and other problems. During his absence Mr. W. Dynes Fulton will be actingchairman of the board.
