ELECTORS’ QUALIFICATIONS
THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. POLL ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 3 Mayoral and council elections will be held throughout New Zealand ou Wednesday, May 3, and all residents who have lived for 12 months iu the Dominion, or for three months in the city or borough in which they wish to vote, are eligible as electors. As in all public elections, the elector must be 21 years of age. The franchise is extended in respect of residential qualifications, freeholder’s qualification, ratepayer’s qualification, and occupier's qualification. The main borough roll closed on January 31, but the supplementary roil will continue open for enrolments until 5 o’clock on Wednesday, April 5.
There is no provision for absentee votes in borough elections, but a voter may, in special circumstances, such as the accidental omission of his name from the roll, vote by declaration.
