ANOTHER FREE NIGHT TO-NIGHT ATHLETIC ATTRACTIONS To-night at 7.30 sharp at McLean Park, another open night will be held, when everyone is invited to attend free of charge. The following athletic events will be run off in front of the new grandstand: 1-lap dash cycle race, 100 yards men’s handicap boys’ tyre race, girls’ skipping race There is no entry for the boys’ ami girls’ events. The side-show enclosure is brilliantly lit, and all the riding devices, shows and games will be in full swing.
NEW YEAR’B EVI McLEAN PARK CELEBRATIONS Officially the Mardi Gras will finish to-morrow (Saturday) night with thi New Year’s Eve celebrations. The Napier Citizens’ Band, attired in fancy dress will lead a procession from Clive Square, leaving the oom bined banks at 9 a.m. and proceed t' McLean Park. Prizes of £1 for first and 10/- foi second will be given for “Hitting th' Husband,” two classes, one for mar ried ladies and one for single ladies, best lady attired as a man, and besl man got up to represent a lady. The same prize money will also b' given for the lady with the most beau tiful eyes, and the ugliest man, and for ladies attired in the most striking beach pyjamas. In addition to these novelties then will be items by the Technical Boys and the Napier Citizens’ Bands, a programme by the Elite Entertainers, stirring boxing contests, and n fireworks display. Promptly at 12 o’clock the Napiei Citizens’ Band will play “Auld Lang Svne,” and it is hoped that everybody will join in the singing. Special New Year Eve prices will be featured, viz., 6d. for adults, child ion under 12 years being admittei' free.
