TROUT FISHING AT TAUPO
OPENING OP THE SEASON. SATISFACTORY CATCHES. (By Telegraph—Special to “Tribune.”) Taupo, Nov. 1. The opening of the fishing season today was marked by perfect weather, with a gentle southerly breeze early, ealm conditions at midday and a light westerly breeze toward the evening. There were a fair number of anglers out and reports so far to hand indicate that the majority secured satisfactory bags. The average condition of the fish* taken was fair, though as usual at the opening of the season many fish have not fully recovered from spawning. The largest fish reported was a female rainbow weighing- 8} lbs. taken by Mr Thorpe from the launch Whiz Bang. Following is a summary of launeh catches:—Messrs J. Sheehan and party, Kingfisher, 31; B. O’Rourke and party, Tainui, 28; E. Limbrick and party, Tamiti, 28; G. W. Thorpe and party, afternoon only, Whiz Bang, 23; W Howes and party, morning only, Whiz Bang, 12.
