WAR ON WHITE BUTTERFLY

PRIZE FOR LARGEST NUMBER CAUGHT. CARNIVAL COMPETITION FOB CHILDREN. The Hastings Carnival Committee is losing no opportunity to make everyone interested in the forthcoming festival celebrations, and a competition that will appeal to all children and to amateur gardeners is that relating to a war on the white butterfly. A special prize of half a guinea has been donated by Mrs. E. M. Marshall for the largest number of white butterflies caught. The competition is open to all children under the age of 16 years, and the butterflies are to be made up in packets of ten and enclosed in a tin or box marked distinctly with the name and address of the competitor and the number of butterflies. The competition closes at the secretary’s office, the “Tribune” buildings, at noon on Tuesday, November 29.
