NAPIER DEFENCE CLUB. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Napier Defence Rifle Club was held at the Napier Drill Hall last evening, Mr O. E. Maney presiding over a large attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, after which the following new members were elected: — Messrs W. McKinnon, 8. Haraldson, R. Mitchell, J. Nelson, C. Holt, Bolt and H. Seed The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr F. Ormond; vicepatrons, last year’s re-elected, with the addition of Messrs E. Hyde, J. Ramsey, J. R. Ross, C. Manning, T. H. Lowry, J. McFarlane and Dr. Gilray; president, Mr A. Hyde; deputy president, Mr R. Pratt; non. secretary, Mr J. A. Bitters: executive committee, Messrs L. Prottett, C. E. Maney, H. Pedersen, R. Nicholson. J. T. Hawkins, S. Haraldson, A. W. Crabtree and J. Munro; handicapper, Mr J. T. Hawkins; hon. auditor, Mr C. E. Maney; ammunition caretaker, Mr F. H. James; range officer Mr P. Eddy. It was decided that the annual subscription be reduced from 12/6 to 7/6 if paid within a month from the opening date, which was fixed at October 23 next. The first committee meeting is to be held on Wednesday next. The cost of ammunition was decided to be reduced from 6d to 4d per packet. At the conclusion of the meeting, members participated at a smoke concert, at which the following trophies were awarded for competitions won during the past season:—Club championship, Mr F. H. James; Maney aggregate, Mr F. H. James; Bull’s Bye Cup, Mr F. H. James; Ormond Belt, Mr H. Pedersen; service championship and gold medal, Mr R. Nicholson; Peter Eddy’s trophy, Mr F. H. James; L. Proffitt’s trophy, Mr F. H. James; R. Pratt’s gold medal, Mr H. Pedersen ; J. Golding’s trophy. Mr H. Pedersen; C. Manning’s trophy Mr F. H. James; Fajrclough’s trophy, Mr R. Nicholson.
