Public Service Cadets.
The appointment of cadets to the Public Service Departments, which has been suspended for some time on account of the depression, will probably be resumed next year, according to a fetter the Commissioner stated that the Napier Central Employment Committee for Youths, Mr C. G. Mason, from the Public Service Commissioner. In his letter the Commission stated that the reappointment of cadets would depend on the conditions prevailing next year, but that it was anticipated that some appointments would be necessary. Such appointments would be made from applications on record, which wore arranged in order of merit, according to the aggregate of marks received by boys who have passed the entrance examination. To gain such an appointment a boy must have passed the Public Service entrance examination, but matriculation was regarded as a step higher. Pupils who have higher leaving certificates or who have had , university education would be given greater preference.
