CHINESE AND TIBETAN FORCES
HEAVY FIGHTING REPORTED. ANXIETY IN LHASA. (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 13, 8.55 a.m.) Calcutta, Aug. 12. There is muc hanxiety in Lhasa, the Tibetan capital, regarding the heavy fighting that is reported between Chinese and Tibetan forces on the borders of the Szechun province. The trouble is a perennial legacy from the failure at the tripartie conference between Britain, Tibet and China in 1914 to reach a final settlement in the dispute between Tibet and China regarding the claims of both to administer a portion of what was formerly Tibetan territory.
