Spain is practically normal alter popular rejqjcings over the failure of the revolt, one result of which has been to establish the Republic more firmly in power. Most Monarchist and Catholic newspapers in Spain have been suppressed. The arrests continue, including Prime de Riviera’s two sons. A THRILLING ESCAPE. The Marquis de Stivel, whose chalet at Seville was General Sanjurgo’s headquarters during the latter’s brief regime, thrillingly escaped to Gibraltar after a mob had burned dqwn the chalet. The marquis and a friend motored to the coast and attempted to reach. Gibraltar by a motor boat, which broke down, whereupon the marquis swam to British territory, where many officers implicated in the revolt aro already hiding.
