The teams for tho test trial match at Manchester on June 18 are as follow:— North: Wyatt (captain), Sutcliffe, Leyland, Larwood, Voce, Keeton, Duckworth, Paynter, Kibbles, T- B. Mitchell, J. E. Timms. South: Jardine (captain), Dulecpsinhji, Alien, Peebles, Allom, F. K. Brown, Woolley, Hammond, Ames, O’Connor, T. Cook. Iddon is twelfth man for both aides. VARIED COMMENT. Chapman’s omission is the most surprising feature, which the “Telegraph” attributes to the selector'a desire to give Jardine a chance of proving his mettle. The selectors know all there is to be known about Chapman.

The “News-Chronicle” says: “Everybody will miss Chapman s name. A selector’s task must bo rather difficult and delicate, but some selectors do seem to go out of their way to look for trouble. ’ ’

“The Times” cricketing editor aays: “Notable omissions are Chapman, Robins and Tate. Keeton and Paynter thoroughly deserve their places. Woolley’s selection is interesting. Ap parently Jardine will be England's captain. ’ ’ THE AVERAGES. (Received 13,12.50 p.m.y London, June 12. O’Connor heads the batting averages with 674 runs and an average of 67.40.
