SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATION
RESEARCH SHIP BETURNS. VALUABLE RESULTS OBTAINED. British Official Wireless Service. Buuby, June 6. The Royal research ship, the William Scoresby, reached London to-day after nineteen months spent in scientific in. vestigation in the South Atlantic and on the West coast of South America. During several months she was engage] in biological and hydrological work near South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and in March last, finding the ice favourable, extended its observations to the far latitude of 705., obtaining results of great scientific value.
The vessel afterwards surveyed the Humboult Current on the west coast of South America and from the Autumn until its return surveyed the trawling grounds near the Falkland Islands to obtain accurate estimate of their commercial possibilities. The William Scoresby is a small vessel, 134 feet long, with a complement of 23 under Commander Jolliffe.
