“BONUS MARCHERS”

U.S. EX-SOLDIERS’ APPEAL VAST CROWDS AT WASHINGTON. WAR VETERANS’ REQUEST FOB AID. (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 8, 11.55 a.m.) Washington, June 7. Reinforcements of the returned soldiers marchers obtained rides or motored toward Washington to-day to lend their presence to the appeal foi a two billion dollars bonus for war veterans. At Washington it was parade day, with a touch of “red” offering prospects of fireworks. The polieo announced that a Communist plot to combat the police with violence had been discovered. To-day’s parade of some 4000 bonus marchers from all parts of the country was by no means intended as the climax to the veterans’ efforts to stir Congress to action on their behalf. Thousands of others have only barely started from their distant homes to join the army.
