OTANE ITEMS
ANNUAL CHURCH MEETING. From Our Own Correspondent. The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. James’ Church, Otane, was held in the Sunday School on Friday evening, the Rev. R. T. Hall, vicar, being in the chair. The room was most prettily decorated in greenery and flowers by lady members The vicar gave a most interesting address on the spiritual welfare of the parish. Will'iams as vicar’s warden, and Mr Grenville Warren, people’s warden. The vestry: are Mrs G. C. Warren, Misses M. Howard, and‘L. Clark-; also
Messrs R. H. White, AV. Spargo, A. Clark, Major Warren and Messrs. Ellis, Athol Williams and Lizette.
Musical items were given by Miss Dieston and Mesdames R. Pilcher and F. Minto, which were much appreciated.
A delicious hand round supper was provided by the ladies. On Saturday afternoon the Otane basketball girls were successful in both matches at Waipawa, the Otane A team defeating W.D.H. School by 17 to 16 after a hard game. Otane Al. defeated Waipawa Old Girls 9—5.
