A SHARP ATTACK

ON CONTROLLERS OF LABOUR PARTY. MR. RAMSAY MACDONALD HITS OUT. (United Press Association—By Cable— Copyright.) (Received 1, 1.30 p.m.) London, March 31. The Rt. Hon. Ramsay MacDonald, writing in the new twopenny national Labour fortnightly called “The News Letter,’’ sharply attacks the existing controllers of the Labour Party. “They may live to fight another days,” he says, “but it will never be forgotten that at a time of great testing they turned tail and declined to do their duty. “The National Government has enlivened a spirit of determination in our people to overcome our difficulties and improve the industrial outlook. “As'regards free trade, the Government had to face the facts and take steps to balance trade and protect our markets against cut-throat competition. On this matter the Labour movement was divided for a long time, but the trend of opinion is towards some form of protection.”
