INCONSISTENT RUNNING CHARGES. NEED FOR GOOD GROUNDS. Christchurch, March 29. The board of the New Zealand Trotting Association to-night discussed charges of inconsistent running and decided to inform the stipendiary stewards’ committee that in future there should be good grounds before such complaints were brought forward.

The discussion arose over a case which had been before the Forbury Park Club. The stewards had brought, a charge of inconsistent running in respect of the horse Wilbur White at the summer meeting as compared with his performances at Timaru three weeks earlier. The club’s decision to take no action was endorsed in the discussion. It. was argued that the weather and track conditions at Forbury Park and Timaru were so unlike that the charge of inconsistent running could not be sustained. One speaker said that the case was frivolous and that the charge should never have been laid. Too many such charges were brought, and the only effect was a detriment to the sport.
