RAVINE WINS THE MEMORIAL, STEWARDS’ TO PORTRAT. Greymouth, March 26. Tho Greymouth Jockey Club’a autumn meeting opened to-day in beautiful weather. The track was fast. There was a fair attendance. The totalisator handled £4940, as compared with £5221 on the first day of’last lear. Late results:— HANNAN MEMORIAL. 6 Ravine (Hughes ),.. S 2 Earthquake (Gunn) M Z 2 4 Thursby (Jones) M J. A 1 Also ran: 1 Desert Song, 8 Giggleswick, 5 King Midas, 7 Royal Game. 3 Gold Bag, 10 Fairy Tidings, 9 Polthea. Won by a length, third back a nose. Time, 2.10 4-5. Polthea lost its rider at the barrier. Ravine was first away, followed by Thursby, Desert Song, and Gold Bag. Past the stand tho first time the order was: Raviue, Thursby, Desert Song, Royal Game. Ravine stayed on to win from the fast finishing Earthquake. Midas was fourth. Flying Handicap.—3 Limited (Kirwan) 1, 2 Mataa (Flower) 2, 4 Solvear (Hughes) 3. Also ran: 1 Quantium (broke down), 5 Sagittarius, 6 Atone, 7 Quinola. Won by a length, third back half a length. Time, 1.9. Metropolitan Hack —2 Coll (Hughes) 1, 6 Jack (Cameron) 2, 3 Eaton Hall (Messervey) 3. Also ran: 1 Lady Rene, 1 Knockalong, 5 White Doe, 8 Fortalice, 10 Flowing Gold, 7 Lochard. 9 Walloon. Won by two lengths and a half, third back a head. Time, 1.29 2-6 sec. Kaiaita Trot.—l Le Fashion (Mackenzie) 1,2 August Pointer (Burrows) 2, 8 Chancellor Boy (Kirwan) 3. Also ran: 5 Lcmoia, Jo Dillontic, 6 Dawn Sommoa, 3 Guy Pointer, 9 Myrtle Dil. lon, 4 Loch Bank, 7 Vesta. Won by two lengths, eight lengths between secpnd and third. Time, 2.22 1-5. Otira Lightweight.—-6 Coomaa (Mes. servev) 1,2 Smithereens (Cameron) 2, 4 Tip Tree (Jennings) 3. Also ran: 1 King Midas, 3 Dainty Ways, 8 Animate, 9 Pearl, 5 Rich Harvest, 7 Marfish Felluce, 10 Polthea. Won by a neck each way. Time, 1.18 2.5.
