Since noon Royal Air Force ’planes have been bombing insurgents in the tribal villages in the Malakand district on the North-West Frontier of India as a sequel to the attacks on British posts. Warnings of the impending action were dropped from the aeroplanes. The leaflets gave the reason for the bombing and advised the removal of women and children to safety. The leaflets also stated that the bombing would continue daily until representatives bringing hostages report to the political officer at Malakand. The disturbances Were duo to Congress propaganda. The disturbance in tho native State of Kashmir is assuming grave proportions. and British troops have been sent. Tho trouble is communal between the Hindus and Moslems. Many have been killed or wounded, ihe whole rtrea is seething with discontent, villages marching on one another. FRONTIER SITUATION. . (Received 1. 8.30 a.m.) Calcutta, Jan. 31. The situation at Dir on the frontier is such that the Nawab has admitted to the Government that he is unable to cope with the menace of raids by the Paidda Khel tribesmen inhabiting the valleys bordering the road to Chitral. Military action is being taken to subdue tlie tribesmen, who have been warned to remove women and children from the villages, which will bp bombed by the Air Force.
