PAPUA MASSACRE
SEVENTEEN NATIVES KILLED. POLICE PATROL DESPATCHED. Sydney, Dec. 6. A radio message from the Governor at Port Moresby confirms previous rumours that 17 natives were massacred in the Fly River district, Papua. A canoe party met others encamped on the riverside and signalled that they wanted to barter for tobacco. They mixed with the campers while the women in the canoes distributed tomahawks among their men who attacked the others savagly. A police patrol has gone to the scene.
