CHINA’S PROBLEM PEACE OR BOLSHEVISM. APPEAL TO CHRISTIAN CHURCHES. (Received 4, 11.50 a.m.) Shanghai, Dec. 3. Expressing the hope that the Christian Church would assist in a just and peaceful settlement of the SinoJapanese conflict, President General Ohiang-kai-shek solemnly entertained twenty-six foreign missionaries of every denomination at dinner. Chiang recently embraced Christianity through the Methodist Episcopal Church Madame Chiang is also a Christian and helped to entertain at the President’s Nanking residence Chiang told the missionaries that China was at the cross-roads of peace or Bolshevism and urged the guests to pray for China. All present then engaged in prayer. The President said nothing about the many Christian missionaries who were brutally murdered in the territory under Nationalist control in recent years. The missionaries presented Chiang and his wife with a Bible, and pledged Christianity’s support.
