STRUGGLE FOR A KNIFE
POLICE ALLEGATIONS. INDIAN CHARGED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Crhistohurch, Dec. 4. The story of a struggle for a sheath knife early this morning in a right-of-way behind the Regent Theatre, was told in the Court by Constable Wells in describing the arrest of Arthur Bridge Clivus, aged 25, an Indian, on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond in that he was armed with s knife with felonious intent The police alleged that the man had been seen loitering in a suspicious manner, and had house-breaking implements in his possession. He struggled hard in attempting to resist arrest. Gilbert Summers Towers, aged 28, a club steward, was charged with converting a motor-car to his own use. The police alleged that Towers was the accomplice of Cllyns, and had heen seen near tho right-of-way. Both cases were adjourned to December 11.
