NAPIER AMALGAMATION EFFICIENCY AND ECONOMY The amalgamation of post primary schools in -Napier, which was favoured by the Hawke’s Bay Education Boaid when the proposal was first mooted, was mentioned at the meeting of the hoard yesterday mormng by the chairman, Mr U. A. Maddison. “I am pleased to he able to say, Mr Maddison said, “that the aiiralgamatiton has now been successfully effected, and that the newly constituted board has now been elected and has had its fifrst meeting. . "There are naturally many difficulties to be got over undet existing conditions, and some patience and forbearance are necessary. 1 reel, however, that both on the grounds of efficiency and economy, the amalgamation is mote than justified, ahd that the Minister of Education has inaugurated a system of combined academic end technical education which will ensure the development of vely fine institutions in Napier. “I would like to. tender my best wishes to the new Secondary Education Board, and to express to the board my great interest in the work which lies before it.”
