CUT IN SALARIES. By Telegraph—Press Association Wellington, Aug. 21. An interim conference of the Plunket Society was held on Wednesday morning. The principal business was to pass the annual statement of accounts, and also to consider the council’s recommendations in regard to the matter of salaries, in view of the fact that a reduction of 10 per cent, has been made in grants from the Government to the society towards salaries. It was unanimously agreed that a reduction of 10 per cent, be made in all salaries from first prox., and that where an increase in salary is due the increase should he given and the cut made on the increase m salary. The usual half-yearlv meeting of the council was held in conjunction with the conference.
