WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS
CITY COUNCIL AND MEN
NQ AGREEMENT REACHED Wellington, Dee. 30. So far the Wellington tramwaymen and the City Council have arrived at no agreement in respect to the proposals of the management for a reduction of overtime. The union has made a counter suggestion of a day oft fortnightly. It is said that this would mean a greater wage loss than the loss t* the department, but upon a matter of principle the men favour it.
The general manager, Mr. Cable, stated to-day, commenting on the result of the meeting in Christchurch, that anything in the nature of an ultimatum would be unwise at present, and that was recognised by the Wellington tramway employees. There had been no spirit of antagonism during the discussions, and he believed that a satisfactory solution would be found.
