BANK OF ENGLAND RETURNS.

Proportion of reserve to liabilities —55.2 per cent. Short loans—2 per cent. Three month bills —2 1-32 per cent. FRUIT MARKET. BURBIDGE’S REPORT. Meirs W. Burbidge and Co., Wellington, report prices for the undermentioned lines sold to-day as follows :— Apples: Delicious 7s to Us, Sturmers 6s to 12s, Ballarats and Washingtons 8s to 10s, Granny Smiths 6s to Bs. > Pears: Winter Coles and Nelis 7s to 10s, P. Barrys 7« to 8s bushel. Vegetables: Near potatoes 3d to 4d lb, green peas Is 2d lb., New laid eggs Is 2d, others Is Id per dozen; separator butter, lOd to lid per lb; walnuts 8d per lb. FEILDING STOCK SALE. FeilcUng, Sept. 26. Heavy rain interfered with the stock sale to-day. The yarding, except for fat sheep, was smaller than at previous sales, and prices generally were easier, though dairy springing heifers commanded good prices. Fat sheep.—Hoggets: Woolly heavy 295, good 26s to 275, fair 22s 3d, light lines 17s 7d to 19s 6d, shorn hoggets 17s 9d, b.f. hoggets 16s 9d to 17s 9d. Fat ewes: Maiden 22s to 235. Shorn ewes: Very good 22s fid to 235. others 15s 4d to 16s. Older ewes: Woolly, to 235. Fat two-tooths: Heavy 215 s 3d, good weights 22s to 235. Fat wethers: Heavy good condition 28s to 30s, good weights 24s 7d to 25s 6d, lighter 18s. Stores—Wether hoggets: Very good 19s 4d, medium 14s Id to 14s 3d, twotooth ewes 21s 6d. Dairy cattle. — Springing heifers (best offering) £l4, good £9 12s to £9 ss. Cows (in milk) £7, second ealvers £6 10s. Springing cows (poor) £6 10s. Fat cattle.—Extra prime Hereford heifers £l3 ss. Mixed colours, bullocks of medium quality £l2 ss. APLEY CLEARING SALE. Williams and Kettle Ltd., report having held a most successful clearing sale on account of Mr P. L. Wright, Apley Station, when they offered the whole of tho live and dead stock, also a quantity of furniture to a very largo attendance of the public. Competition throughout was spirited and everything sold at very satisfactory prices. Following are some of the sales made:—449 4th ewes 21s lOd, 170 ewe hoggets (small) 13s, 177 4yr ewes 14s 9d, 300 ewe hoggets 21s 6d, 190 at 23s 2d, 233 6th ewes 22s 9d, 4-6th ewes 225, 133 Syr ewes 8s 6d, 63 wether hoggets Bs, 119 cull 2th ewes 10s 6d, 412 2th ewes 22s 7d, 225 4-6th ewes with lambs at foot 255, 94 syr ewes do. 19s 3d, 223 4yr ewes do. 225, 73 2th ewes do. 24s fid, 157 4-fith ewes do. 2Gs, 62 2th ewes 255, 26 3yr P.A. steers £9, 57 P.A. cows with calves £7 15s, 18 P.A. yearling steers £5, 12 2-yr P. A. heifers £6 2s 6d, 18 yearling heifers £4 ss, 5 empty cows £3 10s. Implements and furniture made ruling market rates. CLEARING SALE AT HAUMOANA. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held a successful clearing sale yesterday at Haumoana on account of Mr J. Robertson. There was a fair attendance of the public.
