H.B. RIVERS BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING TOMORROW. IMPORTANT BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Rivers Board will be held tomorrow. Besides other business notice has been given of four separate motions. The first one is in relation to the board’s policy, and reads as follows, Mr. W. 11. Campbell being the mover:—“That the board proceed with the work of clearing the obstructions inside the banks and improving the channel, and discontinue the banking along the Ngaruroro.” The following two motions will be submitted by Mr. H. H. Burns:— “That the board authorise the strengthening and raising of the stop banks on the Twyford-Raupare-Karamu side of the Ngaruroro river to a height level with the opposite bank, the work to be completed as quickly as circumstances permit.” “That wherever new banking is undertaken by the Rivers Board it will, as soon as practicable, protect the bank by a close planting of willows, preferably of the variety known as the yellow willow; also, that where the existing bank is bare of trees it shall be immediately protected by a close belt of the same willows.” A further notice of motion has been given by Mr. 11.
