The Liberal truce with the Labour Government has ended, at least as far as unemployment is concerned, according to a statement from Liberal headquarters, Mr Lloyd George will raise the question on every possible occasion. In the meantime, the Labour members themselves are anxious and Mr J. H. Thomas is meeting the party on Wednesday. According to the “Sunday Express,’’ Mr. Thomas admits that his own position is difficult, in view of the ominous rise of the unemployment figures, hut he has practically decided to “stick it out.”
A further substantia] increase in the figures will begin from March 13, due to unemployed, at present unnumbered. qualifying for benefits under the Unemployed Insurance Act passed by Parliament last month.
