MAKARETU SPORTS

GATHERING AT SHERWOOD A SUCCESSFUL. FIXTURE. LARGE ATTENDANCE AND FIELDS., The 17th annual gathering of th. Makaretu Sports Club took place yesterday at Sherwood, an ideally situated location, in the presence of a large attendance of the public, beautiful weather prevailing. The sport provided was very interesting, with close contests. To the joint hon. secretaries, Messrs G. Reg, Cook and J. L. Adams, special credit is due for the excellence of the arrangements, while the officials as a whole can be heartily congratulated on the undoubted success achieved. The programme was a lengthy, varied and very interesting one. The day’s pleasure was brought to a very pleasing close by the holding of a sports dance, in aid of the Plunket Society, in the AshleyClinton Hall. Following are the results RUNNING EVENTS.
