Winnipeg, March 4. Gains of from one and a quarter to one and five-eighths cents in wheat followed a two cent break today, the first advance since Friday. This rise occurred on word being received that Senator Nye, of North Dakota, had proposed that the United States Government should make a gift of 25,000,000 dollat# worth to grain-hungry China. The Senate agriculture committee to-day decided to seek the advice of Mr. John McMurray, former Minister in China, and Mr. John Payne, chairman of the Red Cross, regarding the proposal.

Moderate export business was reported overnight; May closed at 113 f, July 115|, October 115|.
