NAPIER PARK OPENS TO-MORROW. THIS MORNING’S GALLOPS. Given good weather the autumn meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club, which opens at Greenmeadows to-morrow, promises to be one of the best in the history of the club. The course is in tip-top order. This morning the final gallops attracted considerable interest. Trainer W. McKinnon willingly assisted the visiting trainers, and Mr. C. Twist, president of the club, who was also out early, gave assistance to visiting owners. To have an official present at the early morning work is most welcome, and is much appreciated, especially by the visitors. A novel feature of the meeting will be the broadcasting of the runrfing of fihe races, by means of four loudspeakers, by a competent racing enthusiast, Mr. G. L. Guiney, of Wellington. This will be welcomed by the public, as in all short-distance events the horses’ positions are difficult to pick up until the Geld enters the straight. This morning's gallops were as follow's:— Singleton' and Toxeuma were out early and finished on even terms after a five-furlong gallop.
First Whip and Manuiri went well over four furlongs in 53secs.
The Swell, who is linking partimjhrly well, was given naif-pace work on the plough.
Gipsy Fate and Aston were sent over five furlongs. • • •
An interesting trio was Rory Mor, Crown Link and High Court, who went over six furlongs in 1.21.
Belle Star worked nicely at threequarter pace on the sand.
Grattus and Henry of Navarre worked well on the sand, finishing up with a fast three furlongs.
King’s Jest worked by himself over efx furlongs.
Running Over and Rich Harvest provided one of the gallops on the course proper, going over six furlongs in 1.20.
Abbey Queen worked twice round inside.
Ridgemount did useful work on the plough. <
