UNUSUAL ACCIDENT

CYCLIST STRUCK AFTER MOTOR COLLISION.

HASTINGS RESIDENT INJURED. A lorry, a car, and a bicycle were concerned in an accident in Hastings late yesterday afternoon, the cyclist, Mr. Denton Wyatt, builder, residing at 508 Victoria street, being the only person injured. He suffered a fracture of the pelvis and a nasty gash on the knee, necessitating his removal to Royston Hospital.

Mr. Wyatt’s injuries were sustained subsequent to collision on the intersection of Karamu and Avenue roads. Here, a lorry, driven northwards by Mr. E. C. Curd, of Hastings, and a motor car, proceeding westwards and driven by Mr. John Williams, of Waipukurau, collided in close proximity to the silent policeman The car struck the lorry near the cab and, it would seem, caused Mr. Curd to be thrown from his seat. The lorry, locked with the car, continued its run. to overtake and crash into Mr. Wyatt on his cycle before coming to a stop past the cornei.
