TARADALE

SCHOOL. COMMITTEE MEETINGS. REPORT ON JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. A meeting of the committee conducting the recent Taradaje School jubilee celebrations was held in All Saints Parish Hall, Taradale, last evening. A good attendance was presided over by the Rev. F. L. Frost. The treasurer (Mr. Pollock) submitted a report showing that the total funds from the jubilee celebrations realised £145. It is estimated that the expenses will reach £4O. Although 400 people were entertained, it cost the committee only £2 12/6, owing to the excellent arrangements by Mrs 0. Anderson and a committee. A meeting of the school committee was presided over by the Rev. F. L. Frost, other members present being Messrs J. White, T. Turton, W. Pollock, E. E. Goodall, R. Wright and F. Tooman (headmaster). A resolution of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr. Carrie. Mr. A. J. Robson was elected to fill the vacancy on’ the committee. Accounts totalling £29 4/6 were passed for payment. A splendid gift of old prints dealing with the beginning of the railway system in Britain was made to the school by Mr. J Martin. The donor was heartily thanked by the' committee. The chairman reported that the work of remodelling the school'was progressing rapidly, and the need for the extension of. the, school grounds was submitted to the committee, and a special sub-committee consisting of the chairman, secretary and Messrs Pollock and Turton was set up to report to tho next meeting on the matter. Messrs Pollock and Turtpn were elected the visiting committee for the coming month.
